To promote healthy living and a healthy mind, the KwaZulu-Natal Government has put a policy in place to encourage workers to participate in sport.
The policy states employees must get an hour per day, which works out to four hours a month, for work and play where they engage in different sporting codes.
Currently, this policy has been adopted by all provincial Government departments, after which a championship event was formed.

Led and coordinated by the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR), it was emphasised the championships were meant to assist employees in performing their duties, as they got time off of work to participate in sports they love.
Municipalities also have the chance to assess sporting infrastructure, with games rotating to all the corners of KZN.
