Shazel’s inspirational sacrifice
Shazel shows her support for Cancer patients by shaving off her hair.
Inspired by her sister’s battle with Cancer, Shazel Dubree (19) has now become an inspiration to others.
Shazel recently parted with her long locks, all in aid of CANSA.
The decision was inspired by her sisters Cancer experience, an experience which was a hard battle for the family but also made them stronger and more united.
“I was inspired by my sister to actually shave my hair off. It was a hard decision to make but it was always something on my mind. I also had the support of my best friend so it felt really good to do something like that,” Shazel said.
Last week Shazel met with CANSA Community Mobiliser, Bruce Douglas and had her ponytail chopped off which was then donated to the organisation. She then had her hair shaved off as a symbol of support to not only her sister but every other Cancer sufferer and survivor.
This may be the first time Shazel has shaved off her hair but won’t be her last.
“I would definitely support CANSA again. In fact I don’t mind shaving my hair off again. I also want to encourage others to get involved as this is really a good cause.”
