NEWCASTLE OVAL TRACK – With the morale as high as the octane level in the atmosphere, Oval Track welcomed spring with the first racing event for the season on Saturday.

Racers and spectators alike soaked up the sun while enjoying the races.

Boet Buys clinched the win in the Tin Tops division, followed by Imraan Ameer and JP Bruin in second and third place respectively.

In the women’s division, Zaakira Khan took first place with Shandera Govender hot on her heels in second place and Wilma Lindeque in third.

In the 1660 division, Imraan Ameer nabbed the first position, with Corrie van der Berg in second and Mynhardt Myburgh in third position.

Ali Jamalodeen won the 1600 division, while Shandera Govender clinched second place and Duhla Jamalodeen secured the third place.

In the Hot Rods category, Hendrik van der Merwe roared into the pole position, and was closely followed by Gideon Hand and Craig Lindeque in second and third place respectively.

Gideon Hand won the title of first place in the 2-Litre division, while Hendrik van der Merwe took second place and Dewalt Botha in at third place.

In the Go-Karts, Shakeela Ameer took first place, with Sadiyya Ammer the second.
