Inkatha Freedom Party National Spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa MP: In all roles of deployment by the party, Comrade Mthembeni Majola served with distinction and commitment. He was a hard worker who loved the people he served and was loyal to the IFP, his political home. The IFP remains very concerned at the relentless killings of councillors, in particular in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. We condemn these killings in the strongest possible terms. The IFP trusts that law enforcement agencies will work tirelessly to investigate this matter and bring these evil forces of darkness to book. May Comrade Mthembeni now rest in peace.

Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC, Sipho Hlomuka: It is unacceptable that yet another life of a public representative has been snuffed out through the barrel of a gun. As the sphere of local government in the province, we are in shock as forces hellbent on plunging this critical sphere into chaos continue their assault on this democratic institution. Community members should form the first line of defence for councillors. The killing of a councillor is tantamount to an effort to subvert democracy because councillors are servants of the people elected directly by the people.
African National Congress (ANC) Chief Whip, Councillor Nkosana Mazibuko: We, as the ANC, would like to offer the Majola family our deepest and most sincere condolences. May the soul of Councillor Mthembeni Majola rest in peace.
Ugan Chetty (Democratic Alliance): We are saddened by the death of Councillor Majola. The Democratic Alliance and myself personally had a good working relationship with him. He will be sadly missed with regards to his input in council. We are saddened by the culture of our political situation where people go to the extreme of assassinating politicians who get into office with the mandate of serving the community. We convey our condolences to the Majola family.
