Amiel Park resident targeted by burglars

The brazen perpetrators targeted his house last Tuesday afternoon while he was at work.

AMIEL PARK – An Amiel Park resident was left fuming after his home was targeted by burglars.

The brazen perpetrators targeted his house last Tuesday afternoon while he was at work.

Opting to remain anonymous, the irate homeowner said he received a phone call shortly after 2pm from his security provider, who said his house’s premises had been entered.

“I rushed home from work and found my gate open, as well as my security door.”

It took him only 10 minutes to get home.

“The main front door was locked, so I unlocked it and went inside, thinking I must have got home just in time.”

However, once inside, he was shocked to see the television set in his lounge was missing.

“They stole the TV in my lounge, the TV in my room and my cellphone, which leads me to believe they must have went inside my house before I got the call from my security provider.”

What irked him the most was that he had arrived at his home before his security provider.

“The burglars went through all my rooms and even had time to look for the remote in my bedroom before getting away. If my security provider had arrived sooner, the burglars would have been caught,” he fumed.

Although the culprits escaped, the victim’s neighbour did see a white Toyota Fortuner enter the yard and leave at the time of the burglary.

“The licence plates were taped closed, so my neighbour was unable to get the registration number.”

The incident marked the second time the victim’s house was burgled.

“I was burgled about the same time last year, also during the day when I was at work. Just then, they cleaned me out.”

The resident believed police needed to take more stringent measures to ensure the community’s safety.

Lizzy Arumugam of police corporate communications, said the matter was under investigation.

While she claimed the police had not noticed an increase in burglaries in Amiel Park, they increased patrols in the area.
