The High Court in Madadeni sentenced 28-year-old Thelumusa Kubheka to seven life sentences for rape on Friday, August 25.
From 2013 to 2014, the accused would break into homes in Roosboom and surrounding areas of Ladysmith at around midnight. He would rob the homeowner and rape the woman at gunpoint.
He targeted women between 16 and 40 years of age.
The accused was arrested in Bergville on an unrelated matter, which later led to his DNA being linked to the rape cases in Ladysmith.

Kubheka was found guilty of nine counts of rape and five counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, and will spend the rest of his life behind bars for his heinous crimes.
