Beating his own pigeon by three minutes

This coming weekend, the young birds will be racing from Marble Hall and Petrusburg

On Saturday, the KZN pigeons were released from Bandelierskop (580km) and Douglas (591km) in clear weather. The Bandelierskop pigeons arrived first, with Lewis Hay clocking the winning pigeon at 14:18, flying at an average speed of 74km/h.

Soon after that, at 14:41, Paul Manuel clocked the winning pigeon from Douglas, beating his own pigeon by three minutes, which was a further five minutes before the rest. His winning pigeon flew at a speed of 76km/h.

The full results are as follows:

Bandelierskop: Lewis Hay 1; Tiekie Crouse 2,3,5,7,9,10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18,19; Eric Holder 4,12.

Douglas: Paul Manuel 1,2,8,12,14,15,23; Tiekie Crouse 3,9,18,19,21,25; Lewis Hay 4,5; Eric Holder 6,30; Jimmy Hanlon 7,11,17,20; Bloodstock Lofts (Pat Emslie) 10,16,28,29; Mark Clayton 13,22,24,26,27.

This coming weekend, the young birds will be racing from Marble Hall and Petrusburg.
