Adopt a ‘fur-ever’ friend from the Estcourt Animal Shelter
Why not visit the shelter and see the beautiful animals that are in need of loving and responsible homes
The Estcourt Animal Shelter is a place of refuge and hope for many animals. While some animals are surrendered voluntarily, others are abandoned or strays.

The shelter, located in Kemps Road (along the road to Fort Durnford), was started after the Estcourt and District SPCA was forced to close down in 2015. A group of dedicated locals decided to start the Estcourt Animal Shelter, which is a community-driven non-profit organisation.
The shelter relies on the generosity of locals, whether in cash or kind, to keep afloat each month, with many of the committee members utilising their personal funds.
One of the ways the shelter can obtain funds is from adoptions. There is currently an array of cats and dogs that are in need of good homes. Kennel manager Nelson Mabaso says that cat adoptions have been slow, and encourages locals to visit the shelter and see the variety of beautiful cats and kittens.
The fee for adopting a male cat is R250, which includes the first vaccination and de-worming. Adoption for female cats is R450 and includes the first vaccination, spaying and de-worming.
So, if you want to adopt a furry friend to keep the winter blues away, call Mr Mabaso on 060-988-9495.
