Blood donors flow in at Estcourt Secondary School

63 pints of blood were donated at the school donor clinic

Despite the cold and wet weather, Estcourt Secondary School was abuzz with learners following the blood donating process last Tuesday.

Tyrees Khumalo had his blood pressure examined at the Estcourt Secondary scholar blood donor clinic.

The eager learners lined up at the library to contribute to this worthy cause.

Nokwanda Mvelase rolled up her sleeve to donate her second pint of lifesaving blood.
Skholiwe Mbele supported the blood donor clinic with his second blood donation.

The scholar blood donor clinic was attended by 81 donors, 63 units of blood were collected and 15 learners donated for the first time. The target was set at 33.

Ayabonga Mazibuko had his weight checked alongside Ms Drew.

Blood Donor Representatives were very helpful when assisting the nursing team as well as their fellow school mates. The Principal Ms Jordan wished to thank Mr Gareth Williams for his hearty donation.

“Mr Williams has been a big help, and that has assisted us in reaching our target. He has generously offered to sponsor sandwiches for breakfast at each blood donor clinic the school hosts,” explained Ms Jordan.

The Blood Clinic Co-ordinator together with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) thank the school staff and learners for another the successful blood donor clinic.
