Exciting weekend of cricket is anticipated in Estcourt

The highly popular T10 Round Robin gets underway at Lambert Park this weekend

As the normal cricketing season draws to a close, all teams played in a full weekend of cricket to fit in the re-scheduled fixtures before the annual T10 Umtshezi Cricket Association (UCA) Cricket festival happening from March 29-31 at Lambert Park.

On March 14, Farhaan Brick and Block (FBB) played a T20 night game against Colita CC. Colita won the toss and put in the FBB team to bat. With steady wickets falling FBB battled to put together any partnerships except for a 10th wicket stand between Imtiaaz scoring 13 (11) and Rizwaan scoring 10 (11), which had FBB all out for 55 runs by the 18th over. Top bowling performance backed by solid catching in the field had Avinash from Colita take five wickets for 24 runs in his four overs bowled.

Colita took only 10 overs to walk the target set for the loss of only two wickets with Trivashin scoring 27 (18) and Neelan carrying his bat with 15* (20) giving Colita the win by eight wickets. Best bowler for FBB was Mufthi, taking one wicket for 15 runs in two overs bowled.

On March 16, Colita played against Aster in a 50 over game. Aster put themselves in to bat and with early wickets falling, struggled to find momentum and were skittled all out in the 26th over for only 62 runs. Best batsman for Aster was Prenay with 12 (29) and Nabeel pitching in with 10 (25). With all the Colita bowlers taking a few wickets each, the pick was Suvedh who bowled 10 overs on the trot taking two wickets for only 21 runs.

Without losing a wicket, Colita’s opening batsmen needed eight overs to reach the total and give Colita the bonus point win by 10 wickets. Top scoring was Trivashin with 40 (30) and Romendran with 19 (21). Top bowler for Aster was Nabeel with no wickets for 10 runs in two overs bowled.

On March 17, Farhaan Aluminium (FA) played a T20 day game against Colita. Colita won the toss and put in the FA team to bat. Due to the weather the game was reduced to 15 overs.

The FA team put together 98 runs all out in the last over of the game. Top scoring with 54 (31) for the FA team was Goolara who got the supporters excited when he smashed four sixes in a row out of the park. He was backed up by Changaiz who managed 18 (18).

Best bowler for Colita was Suvedh with two wickets for only six runs in his three over spell. The game was a true battle and came down to the wire with 18 runs required off the last 18 balls.

Colita would manage in the end to comfortably reach the total with 12 balls to spare giving them the win by seven wickets. Top scoring for Colita was Trivashin with 26 (21) and Romendran scoring 41* (40). Best bowler for FA was Irfaan taking one wicket for 15 runs in three overs bowled.

UCA invites families and cricket supporters to join in from March 29 to the 31 for the Annual 10 over Cricket tournament at Lambert Park.
