Here are some of the stories that were making headlines this week in 1993

1. Rains too late? – Although heavy rains had fallen in Estcourt and surrounding areas, it came too late for drought ravaged farmers in the Drakensberg.

2. Many happy returns Notties – Nottingham Road Primary School celebrated its 80th birthday and the school threw a big party.

3. New clinic for Bergville – Bergville Mayor Cynthia Tozer and Sister Lilly Chetty at the opening of the new clinic, which was funded by the Department of National Health.

4. Fantastic achievement – Cancer survivor Francois van Zuydam showed that cancer can be beaten and achieved his goal of swimming the Midmar Mile.

5. Eddie Brokensha wins monthly mug – Eddie Brokensha was the winner of the Ken Freeman Monthly Mug.
