Drakensview Primary School cricket team strikes

Learners put their skills to the test on the cricket pitch

Drakensview Primary School’s U13 boys’ cricket team is enjoying a great season. Under the watchful eye of coach Mr Ramprith they are evolving into a talented and well-disciplined team.

Their first match was played against Piet Retief Primary in Pietermaritzburg. They batted first and managed to score 65 runs before being bowled out in the 14th over. Best batsman was Brydley Nqindi with 31 runs off 23 balls. They managed to bowl their opponents out for 19 in the ninth over.

Best bowler for Drakensview was Brydley Nqindi with three wickets for six runs. Drakensview won by 46 runs.
Last week two matches were played. The first was at Kings School in Nottingham Road, where the home team scored 34 runs and were bowled out in the 14th over.

Best bowler was De-Angelo Ndlela with two wickets for two runs in two overs. Drakensview then proceeded to chase down the score in the seventh over. Drakensview won by seven wickets. Later in the week they played Bergville Primary at home. Bergville batted first and scored 57 and were bowled out in the 17th over.

Best bowler for Drakensview was Sanele Shembe with three wickets for 11 runs in three overs. Drakensview chased down this score very convincingly within nine overs and best batsman was Brydley Nqindi with 33 runs off 15 balls. Drakensview won by seven wickets.
