Sad goodbye to a loving and kind dog

When she was on the streets, she was often given something to eat at the bottle store

Editor – She was well-known in the streets of Colenso…

When hungry and full of sores from ill treatment, she went around looking for food. Several people often gave her something.

Sylvia Holder from Animal Welfare treated her sores when she had the opportunity. She asked us if we could give this dog a home. We had often fed her too and agreed, and so Trudy (as we named her) came to live with us.

Her sores healed and she became a lovely animal. We were truly blessed, as she had a loving and kind nature.

When she was on the streets, she was often given something to eat at the bottle store.

One day she brought another hungry dog with her. When she was living with us, there was a small, skinny dog (that was obviously neglected) living nearby. One day, Trudy brought her into the house, took her to her dish and let her eat her food.

She loved having her tummy rubbed. She often lay on her back with her paws in the air, like a cat.

Trudy loved her Marie biscuits. I would call to my husband “Tea is ready” and Trudy would trot into the lounge and look at me expectantly. I would hold out a biscuit and she would take it very gently.

Tragically, one night, a wicked person enticed her with poisoned meat. Now Trudy is gone, but the memory of a very special dog will live forever.
