THE second leg of the 2017 National Hotrod Tour will take place at the ZCBF Oval in Richard's Bay on April 30.

THE second leg of the 2017 National Hotrod Tour will take place at the ZCBF Oval in Richard’s Bay on April 30 at 5pm.

This 350m tarred oval circuit is well liked by all competitors and will produce some tremendous racing.

Local ace, Jason Loosemore, currently leads the series, having won the first leg at Vereeniging, which included setting a new lap record as he qualified in pole position. At 17 years of age, Jason has impressed since joining the series and has been in pole position at the last three events in which he participated.

Kosie Weyers and Rudy Myburgh featured in most of the first leg controversy and this is set to continue in Richard’s Bay. Weyers, in the Mazda Rotary powered Tigra of 2016 Tour Champion, Nico Vorster, will enjoy the thrill of taking on Myburgh in his 400bhp Honda powered Tigra on such a challenging Oval.

Seef Fourie Jnr has returned to the National Hotrod Class and is as competitive and as quick as ever as he fights to regain the supremacy he enjoyed in 2007. Amos Cockeram Jnr has also made a welcome return in his stunning Renault Clio having finished in third position at the first leg.

Neville Loosemore is the current lap record holder at Richard’s Bay and will be hoping for an incident free event as he strives to take his first Tour Event Victory having narrowly lost out in controversial circumstances at the Richard’s Bay event in 2016.

Local entries include Charl Taylor, Okkert Brits and Michelle Loosemore as they all hope their Mazda Rotary power plants keep them in the hunt for vital Tour Championship points.

The first heat is due off at 5pm, second heat at 6.30pm, third heat at 8pm and a 25-lap final at 9.30pm. A full range of catering facilities will be available while entry for the event is R100 for adults and R40 for children from 6 to 12 years of age.
