A weather alert was issued by the SA Weather Service this morning for five provinces due to experience rainfall.
With reports that Ladysmith, including Van Reenen, may experience as much as 84mm of rain, concerns that small creeks and streams might burst their banks has become a real possibility.

Schoolchildren, especially those living in rural areas, are most at risk, as they have to cross fast-flowing creeks to get home.
