Meet the newly elected IFP Youth District Chairperson

"As we approach the general elections, we want to make sure that our youth understand what politics is about, it is not just about placards and protests"

Smanga Dubazane (34) is the new face of the Inkatha Freedom Party’s (IFP) youth division. On July 15 Mr Dubazane was elected as the party’s Youth District Chairperson.

Although a challenging position, Mr Dubazane is looking forward to putting plans in place and liaising with young people to ascertain their needs. Working with a team of seven committee members, the youth branch of the IFP has already started setting plans in place to meet and talk with young people in the area.

Being the Chairperson in the Uthukela district means that Mr Dubazane will be responsible for issues pertaining to youth from Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, the Alfred Duma Local Municipality as well as Okhahlamba Local Municipality.

“As we approach the general elections, we want to make sure that our youth understand what politics is about, it is not just about placards and protests. We aim to make the youth understand the socio-economic impact in their areas and eradicate ignorance,” said Mr Dubazane.

He added that a team has already been established to look at socio-economic sectors, technical and infrastructure concerns as well as sport, which Mr Dubazane says plays a pivotal role in developing the youth.
