Potholes take over at the corner of Illing Road, Ladysmith

Motorists feel the municipality has turned a blind eye to their problems and have no interest in fixing the damaged road

Potholes at the corner of Illing Road, as you approach Joanne’s Recycling Company, have left motorists fuming. People are saying that the municipality has failed to recognise the problem and acknowledge the fact that these gaping craters need to be fixed.

Questions of municipal incompetence abound, as motorists feel the municipality has turned a blind eye to their problems and have little or no interest in fixing the damaged road.

“It is very frustrating when the municipality ignores the needs of this town and the people who live in it. These potholes pose a major disturbance; they are so big that it is almost impossible to avoid them. They damage our cars and the municipality seems not to care about it,” said a motorist who did not want to be named.

The potholes run across the road from one end to the other.

Residents have issued a plea to the municipality to do something about the state of the road, immediately.
