A winter fete in conjunction with the launch of the tenth annual 24-hour CanSA Relay for Life was held at the school

Saturday morning got off to a colourful and festive start for those who were at Forderville Primary School.

A winter fete in conjunction with the launch of the tenth annual 24-hour CanSA Relay for Life was held at the school. Locals, dressed in their active wear and sporting colourful hair, took to the streets for a 5km Colour Run.

Young and old alike enjoyed the crisp morning air as they supported this initiative. Later in the day the Relay for Life committee members officially launched the event. 2018 marks the tenth year since the Relay’s inception in Estcourt.

Event Chairperson Anil Sookraj thanked everyone for coming and described the Relay for Life as ‘very special’.
CanSA Relay Co-ordinator Bruce Kenneth commended locals on an event that brings the community together, adding that Estcourt’s Relay is growing from strength to strength.

A salute from the trio of Sukyo Mahikari from Durban was also observed.

As evening dawned committee members and Relay teams were part of an appreciation ceremony and get-together.

This year’s CanSA Relay for Life will be held on September 8 and 9 at Forderville Primary School’s athletic track, commencing at 10am on Saturday.
