A whole raft of experiences at Wagendrift Dam

The Badgers quickly learnt about the need for team work and the difference between left and right

Some say Badgers aren’t happy on the water. The Estcourt Christian Academy (ECA) Badgers proved them wrong!

In May, a group of 12 were introduced to two-man rafts on Wagendrift Dam. For most it was the first time paddling.

The party was lead by Mr Alfred Eden from Greystone Activity Centre. First, they helped inflate the rafts, then after some initial tuition got afloat, only to find out that a raft has a mind of its own! The Badgers quickly learnt about the need for team work and the difference between left and right.

Soon they had mastered the steering and paddling skills to go round a simple course. After a lot of fun and splashing but all too soon, the session came to an end. Those who wanted, capsized their craft to experience the chill of Wagendrift Dam in autumn!

The Badgers all thanked Mr Eden and his staff for arranging the session and were keen to do it again with some more demanding challenges to accomplish!
