GALLERY: ‘Singing Ambassadors of South Africa’ compete in World Choir Games

The Drakensberg Boys Choir School dared to dream, and with hard work, perseverance and talented boys the dream did become a reality

The Drakensberg Boys Choir School, participated for the first time in its 51 years of existence, in the World Choir Games. This year the World Choir Games were hosted in Tshwane.

Under the guidance of their Artistic Director, Bernard Krüger, the Drakensberg Boys Choir School participated in two categories. Scenic Pop, which is one of the most popular categories with choirs and the audience alike, the Drakensberg Boys Choir School were crowned as the Champions with a score of 95,50 percent. In the category Children’s Choirs they received a gold medal and received a score of 89, 38 percent.

The Drakensberg Boys Choir School would like to take this opportunity to thank the boys, staff and supporters.
The World Choir Games will see 16 500 participants from over 60 countries taking part in 500 competition concerts and friendship performances.

This is the 10th edition of the prestigious event. Nelson Mandela, for who music was a “great blessing”, said that music has the power to elevate and liberate us. It sets people free to dream.
