Maidens gather for annual reed dance.

THOUSANDS of young women from all around South Africa attended the 32nd annual reed dance at the Enyokeni Royal Palace in KwaNongoma.

THOUSANDS of young women from all around South Africa attended the 32nd annual reed dance at the Enyokeni Royal Palace in KwaNongoma.

They carried their reeds for 3 kilometres to the Palace to present them before his Majesty Zulu King, Goodwill Zwelithini.

Maidens coming from across the province and neighbouring countries, including Swaziland, dressed up in colourful traditional attire, came together to celebrate priding themselves in having kept their virginity.
