Well-known police officer retires

Captain KLM Gwala served in the South African Police Service for 33 years, 311 days

The Uthukela Cluster and Van Reenen SAPS bade farewell to Captain KLM Gwala during an event held especially for him on Friday. Captain Gwala was the Station Commander of Van Reenen SAPS and retired at the end of September.

He served in the South African Police Service for 33 years, 311 days.

The captain started his policing career in Ladysmith as a constable, where he worked for just over a year.

He was then transferred to Van Reenen police station, where he diligently worked his way up the ranks to eventually become Station Commander at Van Reenen SAPS.

During his career, he received various commendations.

His colleagues said goodbye last week at a glittering function held in the Van Reenen area. It is clear that Capt Gwala is loved for his commitment and dedication, as well as his kind and caring manner.

The SAPS wishes him all the best during his retirement.
