It’s time to face your fears!

Here are a few tips to help you face your fears...

It is said the best way to overcome your fears is by facing them, so today would be the perfect day to face all those fears that have been holding you back.

The truth is that people have started joking around about fears, as the term for the fear of a long word is hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. While some can’t understand why someone would fear long words (let alone pronounce that word), others can’t understand your fear of spiders.

Fears are said to be created by the imagination, as our minds automatically think of the worst that could happen. We thus imagine facing the fear and imagine something bad happening.

So, on this day, which is said to be ‘Face Your Fears Day’, here are a few tips to help you face your fears:

• Positivity – Whenever fear strikes, flip it over. Instead of thinking of something bad that can happen, think of something positive.
•  Identify – Get specific about what exactly you’re afraid of. Look at the pictures you have in your head about the situation. What is happening in them? What are you really scared of? Become an observer of your inner space.
• Curiosity – While curiosity may have killed the cat, it certainly won’t do you any harm when investigating your fears. Get curious about what thoughts generate your fear, where do you feel the fear and how do you react to it?
• Journaling. Getting your fears down on paper is important, because trying to think them through doesn’t work.
• Therapy. If you can find a good therapist, therapy can be highly beneficial, even life-changing.
