DESPITE the sudden change of weather on Saturday, there was absolutely no room for doom and gloom at this year’s Lion’s Mayfair.

Masses of people flocked to the funfair and its exciting rides on both Friday and Saturday, proving again just why the event is dubbed ‘Vryheid’s main event of the year’.

According to Vryheid Lions President, Ryan Seegers, the event brought together an estimated 20 000 people, and although things were very slow on Friday, they picked up amazingly on Saturday.

Ryan said that The Lions were highly grateful to the community for the support as the profits made at the event will be sown into helping those in need within the community.

He went on to say that the success of the event depended on the contribution and cooperation of many other bodies, and went on to thank the following:

The Vryheid Cricket Club, the municipal traffic department, AbaQulusi Municipality, Sanibonani Security, the Vryheid SAPS, the Vryheid Herald newspaper as well as KwaZulu Gas.

He also thanked the members of the Lions Club for their hard work and dedication.

A great big thank you was also extended to the rural schools that always come in bus loads from neighbouring areas.
