Father and son cricketers play under floodlights

It was entertainment galore, with a festive atmosphere the likes of which is seen at IPL cricket matches

A fun-filled cricket extravaganza under floodlights was held at Settlers Park on Saturday night (September 24), with young and not-so-young cricketers having a great time heaving the ball over the boundary ropes and trying to take wickets.

Sponsored by Sardiwalla Optometrist, the theme of the cricket festival was ‘Father and Son’. As you can imagine, the dads did their best to show their ‘lighties’ a thing or two on the pitch with bat and ball.

In keeping with Heritage Day, also known as National Braai Day, a braai was held for all the parents who attended.

There was even a ‘mothers’ game for moms, who refused to be outdone and showed their mettle out in the middle. Some hefty swings at the ball were seen from ladies who fancied themselves in the same league as AB de Villiers!

It was entertainment galore, with a festive atmosphere the likes of which is seen at IPL cricket matches, and a great bonding experience for families that centred around the gentleman’s game they call CRICKET!
