Nigel Hopkins crash-lands in France

Aerobatic pilot, Nigel Hopkins avoided injury after his plane crashed in France on Sunday.

Daredevil, Nigel Hopkins certainly has nine lives.

Mr Hopkins, the aeronautical genius who wowed locals at the Newcastle Air Show as recently as this year, survived a horror plane crash in the Cher region of France on Sunday.

During a training flight, one of the plane’s wings reportedly broke off.

Mr Hopkins had only seconds to react, deploying his parachute and somehow evading injury, while the plane crashed into a mielie field.

This ended his bid to compete at the World Aerobatic Championships at the end of the month.

French news sources interviewed Mr Hopkins after the crash, where he stated his intention to continue flying despite his harrowing ordeal.

The crash is under investigation by French aviation authorities.
