GRANDPARENT’S Day at Michaelis Kindergarten is not just about kids singing a few songs to their grandparents. It is about creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Hosting our children’s greatest treasures, their grandparents, is an honour and a privilege. So we try every year to make it a special time of bonding, laughing, singing and of course eating.

This year “Abundant Life” from Dundee performed a puppet show and our children sang songs in German and English around the theme “The Lord’s My Shepherd”. It is after all our grandparents who are our earthly shepherds, guiding us through childhood with years of experience, love and handbags filled with emergency stashes of sweets.

The delight in the eyes of the children is electric as they spot their grandparents in the audience. We would like to thank each and every grandparent, near and far, who made the effort to spend this incredible morning with us.

A very special thank you goes to Onkel Robert and Tante Irmgard Gevers, who at the ages of 90 and 92, still come along to enjoy this day. They come to support not only their two great granddaughters, but the entire Kindergarten. Their humble nature and gentle smiles being a reminder that it’s not what we do in life that defines us, but rather how we make people feel!
