UPDATE: Rumours rife after assault at private hospital

"The lady shouted that her eight-month-old baby had been assaulted; I gather her husband retaliated."

After the news broke of a violent assault at MediClinic Newcastle, debate has sparked among residents.

The consensus seems to be that no matter the colour of your skin, violence is never the answer.

New information came to light this morning when a resident revealed there is apparently more to the victim, Sizakele Dlamini’s version of events than meets the eye.

I arrived at the hospital through the emergency entrance. The elderly lady was sitting on the small wall at the ambulance parking in front of the door,” she explained. “As I moved inside and just sat down to do my paperwork an intense shouting occurred just outside the door where I was sitting.”

The resident said she did not physically see what happened.

The lady shouted that her eight-month-old baby had been assaulted; I gather her husband retaliated.”

The victim previously alleged she did not provoke the culprits, and the assaulted was unwarranted.

“Security, ER doctors and nurses also jumped into the brawl. My mom then went out to see what was happening. The couple with the baby were trying to get away from the angry mob at that time.”

The resident claimed police arrived, enquired what was going on and then left again.

“The only vehicle I saw parked in the ambulance parking was an ambulance. When I left later the evening, the police were there busy getting the old lady’s statement.”

The resident reiterated she never saw anything happen, but simply heard what was going on around her.

I truly hope there is an investigation ongoing from the papers, police and hospital. This is not acceptable to take place anywhere, never mind a hospital!” she exclaimed.
