Another wave of accidents

SEVERAL accidents took place over the past week as reported by KwaZulu Private Ambulance Services, who attended the accident scenes.

 

On Friday morning, KwaZulu Private Ambulance responded to an incident on the R69 Hlobane road where a passenger allegedly fell out of a moving taxi. The passenger sustained minor injury and was taken to Vryheid Provincial Hospital for further treatment.

The driver of a bakkie drove into the back of another vehicle near Wimpy in Church Street on Friday at approximately midday. No one was injured.

On Friday afternoon two vehicles were involved in a head on collision after the driver of one of the vehicles allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle along Utrecht Street near Cecil Emmett Park, subsequently colliding with an oncoming bakkie. According to a report by KwaZulu Private Ambulance, all patients at the scene sustained moderate injuries.

On Saturday morning, the driver of a light motor vehicle was incredibly fortunate to escape injury after veering off the road and down an embankment, resulting in a 20m drop into the White Umfolozi River below. It is believed that the driver swerved to avoid a collision with a cow near Stilwater.

Saturday saw another accident take place at the corner of Heeren and Emmett Streets near West End after the driver of a light motor vehicle failed to come to a halt at the stop sign, resulting in a collision with another vehicle. No serious injuries were reported.

One person sustained severe injuries on Saturday night when he lost control of his vehicle, slammed into the bank and was ejected through the windscreen. Paramedics found the man lying in the middle of the Enyathi road. He was stabilized on scene and transported to Vryheid Provincial Hospital.

Sunday morning saw two people involved in an horrific accident which has left one of the patients fighting for his life, according to KwaZulu Private Ambulance Services. It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle lost control, rolling the car. Both occupants were ejected from the car and the engine was torn out due to the severity of the accident. Both patients were stabilised at the scene and were transported from Lakeside to Vryheid Provincial Hospital.
