The documentary team from kykNET’s Kwêla is in Newcastle.
Our town’s status as a finalist in the 2015 Town of the Year competition means the Homebrew Films camera crew and reporters will film here on June 19 and 20.
A documentary will then be aired ahead of the final vote count on July 19.
The Homebrew Films team, as producers of Kwêla, will focus on attractions, landmarks and hallmarks of each of the nine finalists, and will conduct interviews with residents. Documentary campaigns are designed to encourage voting by all residents.
If you believe Newcastle is the best town in South Africa, SMS the word Newcastle to 33157 at a cost of R1.50 per SMS – votes open between July 15 and 19 and are limited to 30 per cellphone number.
The winning town receives R1-million worth of marketing airtime on kykNET.
The popular Afrikaans television channel has also committed to hosting a ‘makietie’ in September in the 2015 Town of the Year, featuring top Afrikaans musicians and bands.
Let’s unite and show why Newcastle is tops!
