RAPHAH: We are not closed

In the past, rumours have done much damage to the centre’s reputation.

Management of Raphah Halfway House have denied rumours the centre is closing down.

Reports suggesting the centre would shut its doors prompted co-founder, Sonja Luus, to take to social media on Wednesday to quell numerous phone calls from the public.

On Raphah’s Facebook page, she urged residents to ignore the rumours.

“We are open and working harder (than) ever before to help those who REALLY want help…” part of the post read.

Mrs Luus admitted today (Friday, June 19) that although she had no idea where the rumours began, it was a frustrating situation not unfamiliar to Raphah.

In the past, rumours have done much damage to the centre’s reputation.

Despite this, Raphah continues to rely on the generosity of residents to assist through donations, whether financial or in respect of necessities like food and clothing.

“We are also desperate for volunteers to lend a hand at the centre.”

Those willing to pledge their time or make a donation toward the upliftment ideal of Raphah can call 034 315 2637 or send an email to either raphah@jenny.co.za or raphah@lantic.net
