Cheers of jubilation filled the wards of Madadeni Provincial Hospital on Sunday when a group of celebrities visited the paediatric ward.

The stars, which included Nhlanhla Mdlalose from Isibaya and Phindile Gwala from Muvhango, were led by Kaiser Chiefs’ midfielder, Siyabonga Nkosi.

“Our visiting here is aimed at making a difference, as it is important for people in our positions to reach out to children,” Mr Nkosi said.

Doctor Jabu Duze, CEO of the hospital, said the staff and management were humbled by the visit.

“The impact of this visit is great, as children need someone they could look up to,” she said.

As Mr Nkosi came from Newcastle before making a name for himself in soccer, Dr Duze said the idea of visiting the children reflected a good image on him.

“Going back to your roots says a lot about your upbringing and family.”

Going from ward to ward, the children and staff appreciated the visit by the celebrities.
