BREAKING NEWS: Seven-year old attacked by guard dogs
While on the ground, the dogs attempted to rip into Nadine's back, while her mother tried to fend the dogs off using her daughter's schoolbag.
After today, walking home from school will forever remain a nightmarish experience for Jolene and her daughter, Nadine Lee-Anne Kayser.
Nadine is seven-years old, and loves dogs. At home she has five of her own, and gets along perfectly with even the biggest boerboel.
However, this may all change after today, when the young girl was attacked by two dogs.
Mrs Layser, Nadine and a school friend were walking home using Olifant Crescent, when the two dogs pushed through their home’s front gate, and charged the closest person to them – Nadine.
“They bit her hand first and she fell down, and tried to cover her face,” recalled her mother.
While on the ground, the dogs attempted to rip into Nadine’s back, while her mother tried to fend the dogs off using her daughter’s schoolbag.
Fortunately, the dogs relinquished Nadine and retreated to the safety of their home.
Nadine’s father, Gordon, arrived on scene shortly after, and through the help of neighbours managed to securely lock the house’s gate.
“When I was locking the gate, they tried to bite me as well,” alleged Mr Kayser.
Nadine’s injuries were not life threatening, and after police and the SPCA attended the scene, she was taken for treatment to a local doctor.
The dog’s owners, arrived on scene following the incident, and personally took Nadine and her mother to the doctor.
According to neighbours, and the family, the dogs were usually very calm and tame, and were accustomed to playing with children.
