Donate towards the Estcourt Knitting Club

Donations of wool would be appreciated and can be dropped off at the Estcourt News office at 99 Connor Street

The chill of winter has already gripped many impoverished families in and around Estcourt. This prompted the Estcourt Knitting Club to get their knitting needles out.

The club, which is made up of six women, embark on a winter drive every year. They knit essential winter items such as jerseys, gloves, woollen hats, bed socks and scarves and hand them out to children homes, the old aged home and other local charities.

More than 55 pairs of finger-less gloves were knitted with love and donated to the elderly at Shepstone Place Home for the Aged two weeks ago.

“Our aim is to donate as many winter items as we can to the destitute who can’t turn on heaters like we can. With the help of the community, this can be achieved,” said Belinda Smith on behalf of the Knitting Club members.

The community is encouraged to support this worthy cause. Donations of wool would be appreciated and can be dropped off at the Estcourt News office at 99 Connor Street.

Alternatively, contact Belinda Smith on 082 396 8050, if you would like to join or send in your knitted items to the club.
