New home required for fire survivors

The three dogs that were saved from the factory fire on May 1 are looking for a new home; a home where they will feel loved, honoured and cared for.

Their eyes search your own. Scared, scarred and filled with dread from the fire.

The three dogs that were saved from the factory fire on May 1 are looking for a new home; a home where they will feel loved, honoured and cared for.

SPCA manager, Heather Gero explained the processes involved in putting the dogs up for adoption.

“Although we have been told that the factory owner has skipped town, we cannot immediately put the dogs up for adoption. We have to leave a notice on the factory premises, asking the owner to contact us within a week. If he doesn’t pick up the dogs or contact us, then the dogs will become SPCA dogs, and can then be adopted.”

She explained the week of grace would end on Wednesday, May 13, and invited the community to help find a home for the animals.

“These dogs are not just security dogs. It is quite clear that they have received some affection and are mostly comfortable with people around them.”

According to SPCA rules and regulations, the dogs would be spayed when a family would like to adopt them.

These dogs have no control over their own fate and were lucky to have survived the fire.

Make a difference in their lives, and the lives of many other animals by adopting a pet from the SPCA today.
