Why should we continue paying for water?

We are paying the same water bill as everyone else, what type of service delivery is Uthukela providing?

Once again the residents of Pansy Place are without water from April 12 to date. Numerous calls to Uthukela District Municipality are made by residents but this is in vain.

I contacted the Uthukela offices. A manager was contacted several times on his cell, he is the person in charge but unfortunately he doesn’t ever return calls or get back to you.

I thereafter contacted another person, he didn’t know what’s going on, so he asked me to call someone else – his phone is permanently on voicemail.

Frustrated and angered, residents don’t know what else to do. We even tried calling the Uthukela Call Centre and received no help.

How are we, as residents of Pansy Place, supposed to survive without water? We are paying the same water bill as everyone else, what type of service delivery is Uthukela providing?

They definitely do not do their job. They need to be thrown out and the contract needs to be given to someone who can provide the service. When the local municipality provided water to us, we did not have this problem.

My question to Uthukela is: How come Pansy Place residents are the only ones without water? Residents of Pansy Place went through the whole Easter weekend without water. It’s now seven days (at the time of writing this letter) and still counting.

We always seem to be having this problem; a few months ago we were left without water for 10 days.

Frustrated Resident

Uthukela District Municipality did not respond at the time of going to pint.
