36 people arrested in the Uthukela Cluster for various crimes

One pistol and eight rounds of ammunition were recovered, as well as dagga

Various crime prevention activities conducted over the past two weeks by members from the 16 police stations in the Uthukela Cluster has yielded good results.

36 people, aged between 18 and 70 years, have been arrested and have appeared in the various courts in the Uthukela Cluster.

The arrested persons face charges such as selling liquor without a licence, possession of and dealing in drugs, being in possession of suspected stolen property, being in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition, driving while under the influence of liquor, as well as being drunk in public.

One pistol and eight rounds of ammunition were recovered, as well as dagga.

These successes are part of crime prevention operations that are aimed at addressing the underlying predisposing factors of more serious crimes.
