Con men prowl for unsuspecting victims

"People must report incidents such as this for investigations to begin and for possible arrests," he concluded.

Two people are allegedly posing as municipal employees to rob unsuspecting Newcastillians.

The men attempt to gain access to their victims’ homes under the pretense of investigating electrical boxes.

“Do not let these men onto your premises,” warned Mark Jacobs from Two Eagles Security Neighbourhood Watch in Paradise.

This came after Mr Jacobs had received two separate reports that the men had been seen in Paradise, and further information that the men had also been operating in Lennoxton and Arbor Park.

While the men have not managed to steal anything, Mr Jacobs has urged the community to immediately contact the SAPS if they were seen. Captain Shooz Magudulela, police spokesperson, said the police were fully aware of the issue but said no investigations had been launched as no cases were opened.

To date, there were no leads about the identity of the men.

“People must report incidents such as this for investigations to begin and for possible arrests,” he concluded.
