A crossbreed female dog was poisoned and dumped in a bin bag in Lupin Avenue, Acaciavale, on Saturday.
Resident Avish Raghunundhun noticed movement in the bag while he was taking a stroll down the street and stopped out of curiosity to see what was inside.
He was shocked to see a helpless and desperately sick dog in the bin bag.
He carried away the animal, and gave it shelter and water to drink. He then contacted the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL).
He looked after the dog till league workers came to fetch it.
Annamarie Koen from the AACL was heartbroken to see the dog in such a sad state. The dog was taken to the kennels on the N11, where AACL workers tried their best to save her life.
The dog sadly passed away on Sunday afternoon.
