AS PART of an initiative to encourage farming in our town, the Intlansi Agricultural Project has formed a partnership with Chinese investors SABIT.
According to the Chairman of Intlansi Mr Nhlanhla Nene, they have had long talks with these investors who have been mainly focused on the energy and mining industries and a conclusion was finally reached.
“After talking to them, we realised that we shared common interests and after a lot of persuading, they agreed to invest in agriculture,” said a happy Mr Nene.
An investment audit was held on Thursday, December 4 and all decisions were made final.
The investors will not only be investing in capital; they are also looking into doing exchange programmes where ten Agri students from local farms will be exchanged with 10 from China.
The students will all get the chance to learn more about farming in a different country and adapt some new farming techniques.
Farm workers will not be left out of this programme too, as they too will receive training in order to equip them with advanced skills.
The guests were given a warm welcome and treated to the best South African hospitality and what better way to say welcome to SA than with the old time classic; a braai.
