Love him or hate him we have to hand it to him, Trump gets the results he wants. Clearly his audacious approach was aligned to his strategy so there was method to his madness after all. His accomplishments and milestones are nothing to be sneezed at and I’m sure we all can learn a lesson or two from the President-elect of the United States of America!

Business growth depends on a clever and well planned strategy as well as management excellence! Trump created an empire and there were common traits that he maintained that we could certainly take a page from.

He communicated things simply. He needed his target market to understand the value he is adding to them and his employees to know exactly what he expects of them. Good management comes down to efficient communication.

Trump believes in what he says. If you don’t believe in the vision you are relaying either to customers or staff, how will they believe in you? Being passionate about your goals makes all the difference. Trump is known for daring to be different and taking calculated risks.

If you do what you have always done you will get where you have always gotten, so dare to be different and make exciting changes to your approach! There is always room for re-evaluation and stimulating change!

If there is one thing we have witnessed along the way is he has a sense of humour. He has fun in what he does! Do what you love! As we mentioned above, a business owner needs to be ‘passionate’ and in order to that he needs to stick to what he loves! If you do what you love you never work a day!

Trump employs a winning team and you should too! Your staff should be able to deliver! Employ personnel who display initiative and enthusiasm. Go the extra mile to train and upskill your staff. Your team needs to be as motivated as you are.

A good entrepreneur’s staff shares the enthusiasm of success for mutual growth. He or she respects his staff, motivates them and rewards them! He creates an environment of positivity so that employees are equally committed and proud of the business they represent. These consistent traits can create a level of command and not demand in which your staff and target market feel inspired and not dictated too. Hoping Trump’s business acumen relays positive results in his presidency and that foreign policies have a positive impact on South African trade.
