BREAKING NEWS: Man killed in N11 ‘freak’ collision
The driver of the light motor vehicle was fatally injured when a double cab bakkie drove over him.
A truck collided with a light motor vehicle on the N11 near the R34 Utrecht turn off at approximately 10pm last night.
Arriving at the scene, emergency services found the light motor vehicle on its roof in the roadway.
According to ER24 Newcastle Paramedic, Jan-Henk Van Vuuren, it appeared the driver of the light motor vehicle was either ejected from the vehicle on impact, or crawled from the vehicle to the side of the road thereafter.
“A double cab bakkie drove over him and into his car,” said Mr Van Vuuren. “He was declared dead on scene.”
The truck driver was allegedly transported to hospital shortly thereafter.
“He sustained only minor injuries and was transported to hospital by another ambulance service,” he concluded.
The exact cause of the incident is unclear at this stage.
Authorities were on scene and an investigation was launched into the incident.
