BREAKING NEWS: Fatal accident on R34
One man died and two others were injured when a vehicle overturned on the R34 towards Memel earlier this evening.
A light duty vehicle travelling on the R34 towards Memel overturned earlier this evening, leaving one dead and two injured.
According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle about 10km from Newcastle, causing it to overturn and plummet down an embankment.
One man was declared dead on scene by paramedics from Emergency Services after allegedly being ejected from the vehicle.
“He was lying about 100m from the vehicle,” said ER24 Paramedic, Myra van der Merwe. “We proceeded to treat another passenger who sustained moderate injuries and transported him to Madadeni Hospital for further care.”
Another patient, who sustained minor injuries, was transported to hospital by Emergency Services.
The exact cause of the accident is unknown at this time.
