A VISIT to Vryheid Cemetery on the morning of September 3 by two Dundee residents turned out to be more than they had bargained for.

Better yet, the attempted attack on the two Dundee  ladies, who were visiting the grave of a family member, turned out to be much more than their assailant had bargained for, when his potential victims suddenly fought back.

According to one of the women, who reported the incident, they appeared to be alone at the cemetery at the time of their visit, approximately 10:00am. Suddenly, the young suspect emerged from behind a headstone, wielding a knife and began to approach his intended prey.

Much to his surprise, his victims did not react with the anticipated submission to this potential threat, but drew a weapon of their own instead, in preparation to defend themselves. Upon seeing this, the suspect swiftly stood down, stating that he was “only playing” and also said, as he ran away, that he was going to tell his father that they had tried to kill him.

The ladies who reported the incident to us were quite visibly shaken after the ordeal, but maintained that they wanted to share their experience as a warning to anyone venturing into Vryheid Cemetery to be aware of the potential danger lurking there.
