Tragic death of Ladysmith police officer

Sergeant Leon Deysel of Ladysmith SAPS passed away tonight (Friday).

Sgt Deysel was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St Ann’s Hospital when he passed away due to illness.

He leaves behind his wife and baby.

Social media has seen many messages of condolence to his family and that he will be missed by his colleagues.

Fellow police officers and paramedics who worked with Sgt Deysel say he was an officer who would go beyond the call of duty to assist the community in any way possible.

He is a true fallen hero in blue and this is a great loss to the community of Ladysmith.
