Baby zebra attacked by hunting dogs (Warning: Graphic Content)

7 young men accompanied by hunting dogs cut the fence bordering Mr Campher's farm on the Roosboom side

A baby zebra was attacked by 12 hunting dogs at Platrand Lodge today (Friday, June 19).

According to farm owner Mr Jabu Campher, 7 young men accompanied by hunting dogs cut the fence bordering his farm on the Roosboom side to gain access to his property.

When Mr Campher and his team got to know of the invaders, they retaliated by shooting 2 of the hunting dogs.

A 6-week-old male zebra had already been attacked, its abdomen ripped apart by the dogs.

The baby zebra was taken to Dr Turner, who could not save the animal due to the severity of its injuries. The zebra had to be put down, as this was the most humane thing to do under the circumstances.
