A retro spin to gaining knowledge

Partnering with Boston City Campus and Business College, Mr Jadwat hosted a career day for the people of Newcastle.

Often entrepreneurs are criticised for their lack of involvement in community outreach programmes.

The same criticism could not be levelled against Retro Impilo owner, Mohammed Jadwat.

Partnering with Boston City Campus and Business College, Mr Jadwat hosted a career day for the people of Newcastle.

Hosting the event at his business and on the streets outside, was somewhat a different sight to see in the busy Central Business District and many people stopped by to see what the fuss was all about.

“We decided to host it in the main area in the street so we could get as many people involved as possible. We did not want to limit this exposure to knowledge to just the youth or school leaving children, but we wanted everyone involved,” explained Mr Jadwat.

He believed the thirst for knowledge should always be a human quality and an event like this would revive this thirst in those who had forgotten about it.

Attracting the crowds was up-and-coming artist, ‘Mzanzi Boy’.

“Everyone should be trying to learn as much as possible. Knowledge is power. You can be a businessperson, accountant, doctor, lawyer, bank teller- anything at all. Just keep on learning to make sure you keep on growing. And remember, if you already have this mindset, then make the people around you adopt it as well,” concluded Mr Jadwat.
