29-year-old pleads guilty to possession of counterfeit money

A 29-year-old was arrested and sentenced in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court for possession of counterfeit money. Officers from the Visible Policing unit sourced information, which was followed-up on and this led them to tracking down and stopping a vehicle on Saturday, June 18.

“The occupant in the vehicle was found to be in possession of a small amount of counterfeit money,” commented police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Ahmed Khan.

The man was arrested and charged. He appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 20 where he pleaded guilty to the charge.

“The man was sentenced to four months imprisonment, which was suspended for five years,” concluded W/O Khan.
