Newcastle duo reaches top 3 in X-Factor South Africa

The singing duo from Newcastle are in the final three of X-Factor SA, and are hoping to take top honours.

Local singing duo, Iziqhaza, has made it into the final three of X-Factor South Africa, and are now campaigning for votes to help them clinch the top spot.

Khanyisa and Mbongeni are both professional nurses working at Madadeni Provincial Hospital, who dream of performing around SA and landing a record deal. They have described themselves as spiritualists and fashionistas, which is apparent by just looking at their outfits when they perform.

On their Facebook page they describe their style as African Jazz-deep Traditional Zulu Music, a genre of their own.

During the semi final round on Saturday, Iziqhaza was placed in the bottom two with Wandaboy. After another performance, the judges made the difficult decision to send Wandaboy home.

The only thing Iziqhaza now needs is votes! To vote residents must SMS the code XF6 to 33121. One SMS will cost R1.50.

On Saturday, December 13, the final three will learn their fate. They are up against solo singer Eliezer and a group of male singers called Four.

The finale show which will be broadcast at 6pm on Saturday on SABC 1 promises to be a jam-packed celebration of talent and music.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo will make an appearance on stage among other local artists. At 7.30pm, the results show will start, and the crowning of X-Factor SA’s very first winner will have a nation on the edge of their seats!
