Update: Cancer teenager back at home

She has a long wait ahead of her before she knows if the op was a success

Teenager Zelda Joubert is back at home in Ladysmith to recover and spend time with her family and friends.

They will get feedback on August 31 regarding the success of the operation, and more checkups and tests are yet to be done. The doctors will also let Zelda know whether the cancer is “gone” or not.

Zelda is in a fight for her life after being diagnosed with cancer last year. This 17-year-old is a mother of a one-year-old boy and found out she had cancer in June 2014.

After giving birth to her baby, she had difficulty with her eyesight and decided to see an optometrist. The optometrist picked up that something was wrong and referred her to a specialist in Ladysmith.

The doctor requested a CT Scan, which was performed at Ladysmith Provincial Hospital. They immediately referred her to a hospital in Durban, where it was found that she had a malignant tumour. Doctors operated and removed the tumour.
